Oh why thank you! :D
Guys, I finished watching Knights of Sidonia in a day. A day!
I haven’t binge watched an anime like that since Gundam Wing.
It’s hardcore scifi. You know how hard that is to come by in anime? No highschoolers, no wimpy protagonist, no eating toast while running out the door (I don’t really mind these things though). Intense high-speed mech battles in space and an interesting fleshed-out world that is Sidonia. That’s what you’re getting.
The sound design is nothing short of perfection. Every ping, every laser canon, every metallic clang, and every engine burst will echo into your skull. Creating an atmospheric experience that is a rarity in any anime.
The author, Tsutomu Nihei, is one of the few mangaka that Hajime Isayama, the creator of Attack on Titan, admires. His other cyberpunk influenced works include Blame!, NOiSE and Biomega.
Here’s what Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear series said about it:
It’s a kind of anime that we haven’t seen for a while that has that sci-fi spirit. Using digital technology cultivated through games, it creates animation that encapsulates Japan’s cultural assets like manga, cel animation, kanji, giant robots, etc. What’s born is a unique made-in-Japan work that could never be cooked up in Hollywood. Japanese culture has lost its “cool,” and Knights of Sidonia will be the white knight that saves it.”
Here’s two ways to watch Knights of Sidonia (wtf Crunchyroll?):
1. Torrent the files from here and then install and watch with SVP. This will increase the framerate to 60 fps to make the CGI easier to watch. However, if you don’t have a strong enough PC to use SVP then…
2. Simply download these premade 60 fps files.
Edit: This post was made several weeks before the show was made available on Netflix. That being said, the show is now available on Netflix.
Thank you so, so much. My mom is taking it the hardest, he was her older brother. I will try to keep my head up, and I have wonderful friends who have been really supportive. :)
